If you search for Namibia Packing List you will find a lot of blog posts about that topic already. This Packing List is different since it is created for digital nomads. Usually digital nomads travel to a new destination to stay long term. So do we while our WildWifi coliving retreat in Namibia. For 4 months we live together in the Capital Windhoek and go explore the beauty of Namibias nature on the weekends. Our big final is an amazing 13 days camping and lodges safari tour with the whole coliving mates.
The big difference to regular Namibia packing lists, is that we as digital nomads do not need to pack and travel with all those listed items. A lot of them take away space or are simply not possible to transport as it is liquid and a lot of us travel with cabin luggage only. So do I at least. This packing list is my personal one, but I marked those things for you which I usually buy in Namibia and do not pack in my cabin bag.
I am a photographer, videographer and I work remote as a graphic designer. This is why there might be a lot of tech stuff listed that you probably do not need. See my tech list as something that you can replace with the tools you need to work remotely. This might be way less, this might be even more.
Even though our retreat is taking place during the Namibian summer months you should bring some warm clothes. When we go camping there is always the chance that it cools down at night. Even though during the day it can get over 40 Degrees in the desert, at night it can cool down quickly. This is why I am always prepared with at least one jacket, one long sleeve, hoodie and scarf. My personal favorite is my Beanie. Especially in Swakopmund, where it can get quite windy, a beanie is nice to protect your ears from the strong wind that is blowing. Since I travel cabin luggage only I always wear the thick and warm clothes already on the plane. This way they do not take away space in my luggage and the AC on the Airplane does not bother me.
My travel setup is easy. I travel with one trolley and one rucksack on my back. I gave my trolley a name, he is called “Frankie” aka. “Frank the Tank”. I have a special system how I roll 4 piles of clothes and it easily fits. Meanwhile 4 of my other Nomad friends also bought a Frankie and switched from checked luggage to cabin luggage only. Traveling with Cabin only is relieving!
My backpack is new to me this is why I can not give too much feedback about it yet. Namibia will be the first time I use this new Backpack from the Brand Tropicfeel. I was searching for the perfect backpack to fit all my tech safely. Frankie is the Suitcase where I store all my clothes and the new backpack- which I called Cuby - stores all my tech.
Frankie and Cuby are my dream team for traveling!
